Being able to cook a meal at home is a creature comfort that’s easy to take for granted. There’s nothing quite like a home-cooked meal to make you feel comfortable, relaxed, and accomplished - especially for senior citizens. Plus, by cooking together with a caregiver, seniors get the added benefits of physical and mental stimulation, thanks to the planning and preparing stages.
Within our services, we offer collaborative meal planning. This allows seniors to remain mentally sharp and active by creating shopping lists, weekly calendars, etc., while picking out their favorite meals! Planning out the week is half the fun when it comes to preparing delicious dishes.
Physical activity comes into play through meal prep. Shopping for ingredients is a great way to stay active, and get out more. It’s a social experience each and every time. It provides independence and freedom, every step of the way.
A Collaborative Experience
Because we offer these services, we’re happy to be involved as much, or as little as required. It’s our pleasure to be able to do things like prepare a shopping list, or actually go shopping with the seniors we work with. Of course, cooking with them is always a real treat, as well! It’s a wonderful process that allows them a sense of independence, while still being cared for and looked after in every way.
Cooking, and everything that goes with it, is beneficial for both the mind and body. When a senior cooks with a caregiver, they’re doing so much more than just reading a recipe - they’re getting a full experience they’ll enjoy each and every time.
